Meet the 5 Awesome Mothers at the 2018 MTV VMAs

The stars at the 2018 VMAs are serving tributes to the women that raised them.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards was certainly a night to remember for some of the biggest stars in the industry, which is why they brought along their mothers to celebrate. Singers Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Jennifer Lopez shine a spotlight on the women that made them.

1 & 2. Joan and Marjorie Grande

Clad in a golden outfit surrounded by 50 female dancers, Ariana Grande brought out her nonna Marjorie, mom Joan, and cousin Lina onstage while performing “God is a Woman” at the VMAs. The grand gesture was a definite highlight for her internet-famous Nonna, and is especially poignant since her favorite song off of Sweetener is “God is a Woman” as well.

3. Guadalupe Rodríguez

Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award winner Jennifer Lopez hit the stage for a 10-minute performance of all her best hits. Cheering her on from the sides is her mom, Guadalupe, with her two kids, Max and Emme. Later in her speech, Jennifer talked about how becoming a mom pushed her to be better than she ever was. Near the end of her speech, she lovingly referred to her mom as the “original dancing queen.”

4. Sinuhe Cabello

Camila Cabello’s date to the VMAs was none other than her mom, Sinuhe. The adorable duo was caught on camera reacting to everything, jamming out to Latin singer Maluma’s performance, and having the time of their lives. The icing on the cake? Camila won 2 VMAs and was holding her mom’s hand just as her name was announced. Talk about an amazing night for the two.

5. Cardi B

While she might not have actually presented Kulture to the public (the new mom even joked about her husband’s reaction), Cardi B is still out there spreading a message about motherhood. She had this to say to people who doubted her career choice: “I had the baby, I carried the baby, and I’m still winning awards.”
