Whether you’ve taken ballet lessons or have a budding ballerina, Ballet Philippines has an upcoming season not to be missed.
An Icon’s Comeback
Bringing a classic to the present day, Ballet Philippines opens its 49th season with the comeback of Carmina Burana. This powerful and emotional interpretation of Carl Off’s magnum opus is one of art director and National Artist of Dance Alice Reyes‘ arrangements and is definitely one of the most riveting.
Taking Center Stage
Along with Reyes’ vision, other greats of the performing arts round up its accompaniments to delight the senses even more. Live musical performances by the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Madrigal Singers add layers and depth to Reyes’ rich choreography. Elements such as a rendition of the cantata, ethereal vocals, and National Artist Salvador Bernal’s majestic production design transport you beyond the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ sacred stage.
Bridging the Past and the Present
In addition, the program will also include highlights from Ballet Philippines’ history. Features like Brando Miranda’s 1983 Vivaldi Concerto and Norman Walter’s 1972 Seasons Of Flight reflect the company’s dance gems. Further celebrating the bright future of dance, choreographer-on-the-rise Ronelson Yadao will premiere new pieces to the company’s impressive repertoire.
Premiering this September, this exciting celebration will surely be an unforgettable experience for you and your family!
